We constantly improve and optimize our avalanche transceivers: That’s why we regularly provide software updates to ensure that your device is always up to date. In this article, you’ll learn everything about software versions and updates for your avalanche transceiver.

How to check your current software version

Update your avalanche transceiver software
S1, S1+, ZOOM, 3+
The is one way to update the S1, S1+, ZOOM and 3+ models with the latest software:
- UPDATE VIA AN ONLINE SERVICE REQUEST
You can send your avalanche transceiver directly to our service point. Simply go to your ORTOVOX customer account and book a service under “My service requests”. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about the next steps. Once you have sent your avalanche transceiver to the address provided, we will update your device and return it to you. Please note that you must cover the postage costs for the shipment and return of the device. The software update is free of charge. Please do not send your device freight collect because we will not be able to accept it. You will be invoiced for the return costs.
DIRACT and DIRACT VOICE
The ORTOVOX app enables you to easily update the DIRACT or DIRACT VOICE software yourself, free of charge.
All you need to do is register your device in your ORTOVOX customer account under “Registered products” or directly in your ORTOVOX app. As soon as you have registered a device and connected it to the app, you will receive a notification about the current software version, then you can quickly install the update free of charge.

Current software versions
DIRACT and DIRACT VOICE
Just in time for the start of the 23/24 winter season we are releasing SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.1 for the ORTOVOX DIRACT and ORTOVOX DIRACT VOICE from October 4, 2023.
Software update 2.1 is IN NO WAY RELATED TO THE SAFETY OF THE DEVICE and includes the following features:
- Improved support for rescuers during a search
- Optimized usability of the avalanche transceiver
- Additional warnings for improved guidance users and increased safety
You can use the ORTOVOX app (iOS and Android) to run software update 2.1 for the DIRACT and DIRACT VOICE free of charge. To do this, the device must be registered in the ORTOVOX customer account under “Registered products” or directly in the ORTOVOX app. This will be displayed in the app as soon as the device is paired with the app and a software update is available.
Because users can run software update 2.1 themselves free of charge using the ORTOVOX app, it is not possible to have the DIRACT or DIRACT VOICE updated via a service request to a dealer or our ORTOVOX service point.

Only with the latest software version will your avalanche transceiver be able to function optimally. If you use the ORTOVOX app, you will automatically receive important information about upcoming software updates, so you always stay up to date.
ORTOVOX 3+
The latest software update to version 2.3 (from June 2020) provides the following optimizations:
Improved self-test when switching on the avalanche transceiver.
These software versions are outdated. We urgently recommend updating your software. You will find all the options and necessary steps for updating your 3+ in the previous sections of this page. Only with the latest software version will your avalanche transceiver be able to function optimally.
ZOOM +
The current software version (2.2) has been available since May 2022 and offers an improved search function and more signal search stability. It does not affect the safety of the device, but is nevertheless highly recommended.
These software versions are outdated. We urgently recommend updating your software. You will find all the options and necessary steps for updating your Zoom+ in the previous sections of this page. Only with the latest software version will your avalanche transceiver be able to function optimally.
