To ensure that your AVABAG LiTRIC avalanche airbag backpack works properly in an emergency, it needs to be stored, handled, maintained and checked regularly. You can find all the necessary information here.
General information on product service life
In this article, we have compiled all the important information on the storage, maintenance and care of your AVABAG LiTRIC avalanche airbag system.
The LiTRIC system has a maximum service life of 10 years from the date of manufacture or 50 deployments, provided it is handled, stored and cared for correctly and the recommended maintenance and service intervals are adhered to, as well as the annual condition checks. Please note that the specified service life is only a guide value - it depends heavily on numerous factors such as frequency of use, handling, climatic influences, etc.
The following table provides an indication of the service life:

Tips for correct storage of your AVABAG LiTRICS
If you want to prepare the LiTRIC® system for storage for several months, please follow the instructions below.
- If the LiTRIC® system is to be stored for several months, the battery should first be fully charged.
- A stored device must be fully recharged after 12 months at the latest.
- The LiTRIC® System must be charged for 24 hours prior to first use and after prolonged storage (e.g. storage over the summer months).
- The LiTRIC® system should be charged for the full 24 hours even if the LEDs indicate that it is fully charged.

WARNING: We have simplified the preparation for several months of storage and updated the user manual for the Winter 23/24 ORTOVOX AVABAG LiTRIC models. Do not use the STORAGE MODE described in the user manual for the Winter 23/24 ORTOVOX AVABAG LiTRIC models. Instead, fully charge the LiTRIC® system before storing it - this has advantages for the storage period.

Cleaning recommendation
Only use water to clean the LiTRIC avalanche airbag. Do not clean with solvents or cleaning agents. After cleaning, the LiTRIC avalanche airbag must be completely dried at room temperature before it can be used again. Otherwise there is a risk of icing.
Annual condition check
The LiTRIC system is largely maintenance-free. We recommend carrying out a condition check at least once a year before the season:
- Trigger the system at least once a year for testing and training.
- Check that the inflated airbag remains fully inflated for at least 3 minutes.
- Check the condition of the airbag for any damage and repack it.
- Make sure that the entire LiTRIC system is completely dry when it is stored.
- Regularly check the condition of the backpack for any damage.

Maintenance after an avalanche
Every avalanche can push the material to its limits and damage the LiTRIC avalanche airbag. An inspection service after an avalanche is therefore essential.
